FRIDAY 10TH JUNE

 

12.50 -- The Drew Martin Trophy
For Cornet, ex-Cornets, Acting Father and ex-Acting Fathers only. Catchweight.
Distance 6.1/2 furlongs. Horse and rider to have ridden the Marches today.
Presentation after the race of ex-Acting Father Joe Turnbull Memorial Trophy to first Acting Father ‘past the post’.

 

1.00 -- Pony Race
Entries on day to Clerk of Course. For Ponies 14.2 hands or under. Handicapped by starts. Distance 6 furlongs. Prizes in kind. No switches allowed. Ponies and Riders must have completed the Riding of the Marches today. Best turned out pony to receive custody of the “Digger Trophy” for one year, kindly donated by Maurice & Barbara Johnson, Crowbyres. Winner to receive custody of the “Pony Cup” for one year.

 

1.20 – The George Harrow Memorial Flex Handicap Open Race
Distance about 1.1/4 miles. Value £1,000 (Suddy Trophy)

 

1.40 -- Cornet’s Silver Challenge Cup (subscribed for by Common-Riding Supporters)
Distance 6.1/2 furlongs. Weight 11st.
For unmarried supporters only. The Cup to be run for annually and, before gaining possession of the Cup, the holder must find security to the satisfaction of the Committee for £25. The Cup must remain within a radius of five miles of Hawick and, should the holder go beyond this radius, the Cup to be returned to the Committee. The name of the successful rider will be annually engraved upon the Cup. Winner to receive £80 and a Tankard, Second £30, Third £20. Horse and Rider must have completed Riding of the Marches today.


2.00 -- The Kennedy Medway Cup
Distance about 6 furlongs. Value £1,000
Winner to receive custody for one year of the Medway Cup donated by the Kennedy family and first presented in 1927.

 

2.30 – The Tradesmen’s Handicap Open Race
Distance about 7 furlongs. Value £3,800 (The Cashmere Cup)

 

2.55 – The Pilmuir Stakes
Distance 1.1/4 miles. Weight 11st.
Winner to receive custody of the 1891 Robson Cup for one year. Horse and Rider must have completed Riding of the Marches today. Any qualified rider may ride any qualified horse.

 

3.10 – The Stewards Handicap
Open Race
Distance about 1 mile. Value £1,000 (Belhaven Challenge Cup)

 

SATURDAY 11TH JUNE

 

12.00 -- J.E.D. Murray Memorial Challenge Trophy
Catchweight. Distance 6.1/2 furlongs. Horse and Rider must have supported the Cornet today. Riders must be native to Hawick or resident in Hawick postal area. Trophy to remain in custody of committee. Winner to have their name inscribed thereon and to receive miniature replica of Trophy to be retained as own property.
THE COMMITTEE REQUEST A LARGE TURNOUT OF SUPPORTERS FOR THIS RACE.

12.10 -- Pony Race
Entries on day to Clerk of Course. For Ponies 14.2 hands or under. Handicapped by starts. Distance 6 furlongs. Prizes in kind. No switches allowed. Ponies and Riders must have completed the Cornet’s ride today. Best turned out pony to receive custody of the “Arkleton Cup” for one year, kindly donated by Maurice & Barbara Johnson, Crowbyres.

12.30 – The Pen-Y-Van Challenge Cup
Distance about 7 furlongs. Value £1,000 (Brian Clarke Pen-Y-Van Challenge Cup)

12.45 -- The Bell Trophy
Catchweight. Distance 6 furlongs.
Winner to receive custody of the Bell Trophy for one year. Horse and Rider must have supported the Cornet today.

1.00 – The Shetland Pony Race

1.15 – The Buccleuch Handicap Open Race
Distance about 1.1/2 miles. Value £1,800 (Dove Challenge Cup)

1.45 – The Mosstroopers’ Stakes (sponsored by Wm. Lockie & Co. Ltd.)
Distance 1 mile. Weight 11st.
Winner to receive custody of the Wm. Lockie Centenary Trophy. Horse and Rider must have supported the Cornet today.

2.00 – The James Bell Handicap Open Race
Distance about 1 mile. Value £1,000 (Len Bell Memorial Cup)

2.30 – The Wyoming Handicap Open Race
Distance about 6 furlongs. Value £1,000 (Common Riding Cup)
